Our barriers are the ideal tool to facilitate interventions during emergency situations.

Water reserves

The WA model of the Water-Gate barrier is the solution you are looking for, whether it is for your needs to create water reserves or simply to serve as cofferdams. Constructed of super-resistant materials, this revolutionary response equipment benefits from unprecedented reliability and speed of execution. Water-Gate barriers are reusable, portable and ideal for emergency response. Our barrier is particularly useful in rural areas where fire hydrants are not available.

Our WL model adapts perfectly to the recovery of waste water during a fire. This barrier helps to reduce the risk of contamination, intoxication, electrocution and many others.

In order to respond quickly and efficiently, Water-Gate flood barriers are the perfect alternative to sandbags, as they replace thousands of sandbags in an instant. In addition, they remain stable, regardless of the length and direction of the flow, or the slope of the terrain. Water-Gate barriers can be put in place while the flood is already underway.

Many emergency responders and environmental specialists consider Water-Gate spill barriers to be first-rate response equipment. Among other things, they are used by members of the Western Canadian Spill Service (WCSS) team for referral and employee training.

Water-Gate spill barriers are very effective in providing control, containment and removal of pollutants in a toxic spill situation. This innovative intervention system stands out from competing models, among other things, by its flexibility, cost, accessibility but above all, its portable and reusable nature. First responders now have a tool to create underflow dams in less than five (5) minutes.

Why use a water barrier?

Water-Gate offers different types of barriers that help fight against floods, the creation of temporary water reserves and toxic spills.

Flash flood

The Water-Gate flood barrier is easy to install and requires very little labour to deploy. Ideal for flash floods, sudden water level rises, downpours or any unforeseen event causing the flood. It provides instant protection.

Protection of Doors and Underground Entrances

Water-Gate flood barriers are available in different sizes that allow them to adapt to different situations. It is possible to install them in the desired location: in front of a door, window, garage, elevator door, parking lot, underground entrance, etc.

Underflow Dam

The release holes have been added to the barrier to provide it with a function allowing the underflow of water while the pollutants float on the surface. Release holes can be closed and opened at any time.

Absorbent tubes can be installed along the barrier in order to absorb all the dangerous matter while the clear water continues its way in underflow. Water circulation is neither affected nor interrupted. Once filled, the absorbent tubes can be easily replaced. It is possible to attach them directly to the barrier.

Water Reserve

The water barrier is ideal for the rapid installation of a suction point facilitating the creation of a water reserve, especially during fires. This water, filtered from all debris and all impurities, can then be used to fight a fire or even a forest fire. Given the portable nature of the barrier, it is no longer necessary to stand near a fire hydrant to recharge your batteries in water.

Chemical Spills

While this use is recommended for our WT models, the WA model has dual functionality to contain a toxic spill. However, only the overflow function is made possible in the absence of a release hole downstream of the barrier. As with the WT models, it is possible to add an absorbent tube to extract the floating pollutants on the surface.

Surface Water Deviation

The Water-Gate barrier allows rapid and safe interventions. This temporary solution is ideal during intervention by fire departments to, among other things, control and divert the path of rainwater, water splash from highways, traffic water, surface water and others.

Water Pipe Failure

The Water-Gate barrier allows rapid intervention in the event of an emergency, such as a water failure. Its portable and light nature guarantees instant use, which should minimize possible damage. During the maintenance of standpipes, it allows water to be redirected without affecting traffic or surrounding infrastructure.

Fire Water Retention – The WL barrier can also be the ideal tool for retaining wastewater during fires so as not to contaminate the ground.

Containment of pollutants

By its nature, the Water-Gate barrier has the particularity of literally blocking a flow of water by creating a barrier. The water is housed at the bottom of the barrier and it deploys and fills automatically as the water level increases. Therefore, it is the weight of the water that nails the barrier to the ground and stabilizes it.

In the event of a toxic spill, the pollutants are contained inside the barrier and can be easily removed using different methods and accessories:

  • Extraction pump: water and pollutants are extracted from the contaminated area to an empty container until complete decontamination of the infected area. This practice is ideal in situations where the contaminated site contains non-floating pollutants.
  • Absorbent material: very effective intervention equipment exists on the market in order to facilitate the extraction of dangerous materials included in water, this is the case of certain booms and certain surface skimmers, absorbent powder or tubes, coals, active ingredients for organic solvents and others, which, combined with the Water-Gate barrierWT model, demonstrate doubly superior effectiveness. Since the barrier traps pollutants in common, it only remains to install this equipment precisely upstream of the barrier to efficiently extract the pollutants.

Deviation of the Water Trajectory

The water barrier can be used to divert the path of water to a specific area. This characteristic is ideal for carrying out aquatic works without interrupting the circulation of water. It allows the partial drainage of an arm of a river or a section of a watercourse.
